

Phyllis A. Chamberlain 80, of George Street, Keene, NH, died peacefully, Sunday, December 13, 2015 at her home in Keene, following a long illness. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.
She was born in Gardner, MA on September 14, 1935, the daughter of Hazel M. (Cloutier) and Ernest J. Boulay, Sr.
She moved to NH in 1940, residing in Swanzey, NH while she was growing up, and was a 1953 graduate of Keene High School. During high school, she worked in her father’s grocery story, Boulay’s Grocery in West Swanzey.
Following graduation, she entered into nursing school at the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Hanover, NH, however, she felt this was not the right career for her.
On August 5, 1966, she married William E. Chamberlain. Later, while raising her five children, she spent time outside of the home, working in accounting until October of 2012 when she retired from Ferguson and Alexander, CPA of Keene.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Douglas P. Benoit and his wife, Kim, of Concord, NH, David E. Benoit and is wife, Lois, of Keene, Paula A. Benoit of Concord, W. Garrett Chamberlain of Jaffrey, NH, Rebecca J. Hokanson and her husband, Jeff, of Keene; 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Holly Beam of Alstead, NH, Estelle Maynard of Fair Oaks, CA; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 26 years, William E. Chamberlain on February 5, 1993; a sister, Laurette Powell; and two brothers, Ernest J. Boulay, Jr. and Maurice Boulay.
A graveside service will be held Friday, December 18, 2015 at 1:00PM in the Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Avenue, Keene. Rev. Nathan Alexander will officiate. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.
