The busy hands of Phyllis Mary Eddy, 74, formerly of West Swanzey, and Keene, NH, fell still as she passed peacefully surrounded by her family at Westwood Care and Rehabilitation Center in Keene, NH, on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.
Her parents, Adelaide M. (Parks) and Bernard J. Eddy, Sr., welcomed their daughter into the world on December 27, 1944, in Hartford, CT.
Phyllis grew up in the Rutland and Ludlow, VT area where she was a 1962 graduate of Rutland High School. She attended Champlain College in Burlington, VT. Phyllis resided in Springfield, VT for twenty-two years before moving to Keene in 1986. Phyllis was an administrative assistant throughout her career. While living in Vermont she worked for WCFR and Hartford Insurance. Finding her niche in the social services field, Phyllis worked for Residential Resources in Keene, NH from 1989 until her retirement in 2009.
Phyllis’ skilled hands lovingly created many wonderful knitting, cross-stitch, and quilting projects for family members and in service to the community, including personalized lap quilts for nursing home residents. She loved reading and jigsaw puzzles, and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
Phyllis took great pride and joy in her children and grandchildren’s various school events and could often be seen cheering them on from the sidelines of an athletic field or court, or in the audience of a performance. She also loved the ocean and especially the beaches of Kennebunkport, ME, and the Florida Keys. We will miss her dearly as we imagine her forever walking the beaches with her mother and aunts in Kennebunkport.
Phyllis will be greatly missed by many, especially her children Michelle Arguien Lowe of Peterborough, NH, Mary Ann (Arguien) Wisell and her husband Rick of Keene, NH, and Captain Richard J. Arguien and his wife Lee Ann of Manchester, NH; her six grandchildren, Morgan Lowe, Carson Lowe, Catherine Wisell, Patrick Wisell, Jacques Arguien, Monique Arguien; a great-grandson, Gabriel Wisell; her brother, Bernard J. Eddy and his wife, Sandra of Wallingford, VT; and several nieces. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Frank P. Eddy.
Services will be held to celebrate her life at 11 am on Wednesday, February 27, at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH. Burial will follow in the Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Avenue, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday evening from 6pm to 8pm at the Foley Funeral Home.
