Pierre Lyndon Bonneau, 78, died April 24, 2026 attended by his daughters. It was pneumonia, complicated by a multitude of well-managed, terminal health challenges that had left him immunosuppressed, that took his last breath.
Pierre was born on August 31, 1947, in Holyoke, MA, the son of Joseph A. Bonneau and Margaret Rachel Mary (Guilding) Duncan.
Pierre arose each day with purpose and continued to up the ante. He was a driven, humble, committed, loyal man. He served in the U.S. Army over in Vietnam as a helicopter electrician and had a bit of a beer business serving his base. This led to his early years as a restauranteur, including opening the storied Tiffany Tavern in Keene. However, when asked his profession Pierre was a builder for the MacMillin Company working for William Walker for 30 years.
There are few area roads or trails, whether rolling or mountainous, that haven’t been explored on foot or by bicycle by Pierre; his skis and fat tires ensured he was able to keep his mile average up through every season. Working in the garden or putting a log on the fire with a single cold beer made for the perfect end to a good day.
Many of his days of adventure were shared with those he loved. All of whom have “stories” of time spent together that he would be sure to correct if seemingly exaggerated in the retelling.
Pierre, is survived by his daughters: Diana and Steve Eisenhaure of Barrington; Christy Bonneau and Richard French of Spofford; Carrie and Tony Thaler of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; and his sons: Thomas and Leslie Gardner of Los Angeles; and Matthew Gardner of Los Angeles.
Pierre was blessed to have five grandchildren: Anders and Henry Eisenhaure, Zazo French, Jack and Olivia Gardner and one great grandchild, Sutton French.
He is survived by his sister, Susan and David Hostage; and his brother, John and Barbara (Barhydt) Duncan.
He will be cremated. There will be calling hours on May 31 from 1 PM to 3PM at Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. At 2 PM there will be a ceremonial pause honoring Pierre followed by an opportunity for all to pull up a chair and share memories.
