He was born in Keene, NH, October 31, 1955, the son of Lawrence and Shirley M. (Buffum) Derosier. He grew up in Keene, attending local schools. Mr. Derosier was a resident of Swanzey for the past 30 years.
For the past 37 years, Mr. Derosier worked as a roofer with The Melanson Company, Inc. in Keene.
He was an avid collector of anything old. He enjoyed restoring old furniture and then giving the furniture to others in order that they might also receive enjoyment from the restored furniture. He enjoyed time spent going to auctions with his grandson, Hunter, and helping him to start his own collection hobby. He loved to cook and took great enjoyment in feeding everyone. He had a love for animals. He was great with children and they adored him as well. He loved nothing more than doing things for others, never expecting anything in return. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Mr. Derosier was an avid hunter. He especially enjoyed hunting trips with his son, Matthew, and grandson, Hunter. He will be missed for his wonderful sense of humor, always playing practical jokes on others, his incredible laugh, a voice that was unmistakable from any other, his kindness, and the joy he took in his family and friends. His favorite pastime was his time spent with his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Joan M. (Sprague) Derosier of Swanzey, two sons, Matthew R. Derosier and his wife, Kelly, of Swanzey, Christopher R. Derosier and his husband, Thomas Gardner, of Somerville, MA, two grandchildren, Ashley Chase Derosier and Hunter Derosier, both of Swanzey, two brothers, Ronald Derosier and his wife, Marlene, of Marlborough, NH, Larry Derosier and his wife, Jane, of Troy, NH, a sister, Gloria LaFreniere and her husband, David, of Fitzwilliam, NH, his mother-in-law, Beatrice Sprague, of Gilsum, NH, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. His parents and two brothers, Michael Derosier and Robert Dersosier, died earlier.
Funeral services and burial in Centennial Cemetery, Gilsum, will be private. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, October 24, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.
