

He was born on March 15, 1926, in New Britain, CT., to Samuel and Elizabeth (Aldrich) Holcomb. He enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and served in the Pacific Theater of operations. He served as an Electrician’s Mate Second Class until honorably discharged in 1946. After his naval service he joined Smith Gates Corporation of Farmington, CT as a shipping clerk. He worked his way up the ranks through various departments and was eventually promoted to Sales & Marketing manager in 1968.
In 1975, he married Mary D. Diaz. He retired in 1984 and they moved to Swanzey Center, New Hampshire in an old farmhouse across from Monadnock Regional High School.
He was a Philatelist, and enjoyed finding rare and interesting stamps to collect. He was an avid golfer and member of Keene Country Club where he played almost every day from Spring to Fall of each year with his friends and his late wife, Mary.
He is survived by his daughters: Karen Kaberle and her husband, Michael of Wayne, ME., Elizabeth Utz and her husband, Charles of Englewood, FL., and Sherry Wainman and her husband, Harry of Granville, MA.; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years: Mary D. Holcomb.
