The great outdoorsman and hunter, Richard W. “Dick” Murdock 88, of Munsonville, NH, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019, surrounded in the love of his family, after a year’s-long struggle with Parkinson's disease.

Dick proudly served his country during the Korean War. A sergeant in the 140th AAA, Dick received a Korean service medal with three bronze service stars during his tour of active duty.

Dick had a passion for car racing. The Murdock brothers, Dick and Don, were famous on the local stock car racing circuit in the mid-fifties. Dick drove the 17 car in honor of his young almost-bride Beverly. Dick was quite the dare-devil on the track and had several state and local championships to his credit.

An avid hunter and fisherman, on his off-time Dick could be found in the woods, on his boat or at his cabin in Stoddard. The highlight of every year was the annual trek to Lake Albanel in Chibougamau, Canada to spend a week fishing with all his buddies.

He worked for 22 years as an assistant foreman in the lathe department at Kingsbury Machine Tool of Keene, retiring in 1996.

He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his wife of 63 years, Beverly L. (Richardson) Murdock of Munsonville; his daughter, Judy Rogers and her husband, John, of Keene; his son, John R. Murdock, Sr. of Munsonville; three grandchildren, John R. Murdock, Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of Keene, Tyler Rogers and his wife, Nicole Melanson, of Keene, Patrick Rogers of Medford, MA; two great-grandsons, Emmett and Weston Murdock of Kansas; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry F. and Gladys M. (Waterman) Murdock; and two brothers, Harry Murdock and Donald Murdock.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street, Keene, on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 10:30AM. Burial with military honors will be in the spring in St. Joseph Cemetery, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday evening from 4:00PM to 7:00PM in the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.

Debbi and Don Fuller

Dick worked with my husband Don at Kingsbury for many years. When Don and I met via the "personals" ad in Leisure Weekly, I found out that he knew Dick. This was fortuitous as I was able to check on Don to see if Dick approved of him before we went out on our first date! Dick and his wife Beverly were friends of my parents, Don and Edna Martin, for many years. Once Dick gave his OK, I went out with Don and later, Dick was the best man at our wedding in 1987! Thanks Dick!!
