

Bob was born September 3, 1936, to H. William and Elsie (Borchers) Brockmann, in Mount Kisco, New York. Bob attended Pleasantville High School, where he was active in the school’s marching band and participated in intramurals. Bob continued his friendships made there, through reunions and ensured that he kept in contact with friends throughout his life.
During his time in Pleasantville, he was active in the Boy Scouts of America, eventually becoming Troop Leader. In the summer of 1953, Bob attended the National Boy Scout Jamboree at the Irvine Ranch in Irvine, California. On this trip, Bob was able to travel the country by train, visiting National Parks/Monuments along the way.
Bob attended Keystone Junior College in Pennsylvania. He then attended Iona College in New York, earning his Bachelor of Marketing from Iona College in New York.
Bob began his career with Genung’s/Howlands Department store, starting as a stock boy, rising through the company, eventually becoming divisional manager. Later, Bob would own his own market store as his father and uncle had done before him.
On June 16, 1990, Bob exchanged vows with Lee (Andersen) Delmhorst in Fairfield, Connecticut, enjoying 36 years of marriage. Together, Bob and Lee would relocate to Chesterfield, NH where they would enjoy traveling, boating hiking, and a good sunny beach. Bob was civically active, serving for 10 years on the Town’s Budget Committee, and later as Selectman for 4 ½ years. In 2011, Bob was on the Committee to organize the Town’s 250th Celebration of Incorporation, where he was instrumental in raising funds for the last fireworks over Spofford Lake.
Steadfast in his faith, Bob attended the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church, the First Church Congregational in Fairfield, CT, and later Grace Church in Spofford, NH.
Bob will be especially missed by his wife Lee, of Chesterfield, NH; his daughter, Lois Brockmann, of Newtown, CT; his daughter Laurie Caplan and her husband Ken of Seymour, CT; his stepsons Robb Delmhorst and his wife Stacey, of Trumbull, CT; and Jim Delmhorst, of Chesterfield, NH, four grandchildren, and a nephew Robert W. Brockmann and his wife Anne TenDyke, of Pennsylvania. Bob was predeceased by his parents, a brother H. William “Bill” Brockmann, Jr., his sister, Jeanne Brockmann and a niece Susan (Brockmann) DeLonge.
A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held on August 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Church, 49 Old Swanzey Rd., Spofford, NH 03462 with a gathering to follow. Interment will be held privately by the family at Friedsam Cemetery, Chesterfield.
