

Rodric (Dick) L. Villemaire, a resident of Winooski, VT for eighty-five years until moving to Bentley Commons, Keene, NH for the last six years. He passed away on August 8th surrounded by his loving wife of 65 years (married 6/30/51) and family.
Dick Villemaire was predeceased by his parents Delmar and Marguerite (Bourassa) Villemaire and his two sisters, Theresa Seymour (Villemaire) and Anne Marie Bilodeau (Villemaire) and brother-in-law, Earnest Seymour.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Villemaire (Godbout) and their four children Ric Villemaire of Winooski, Vt, Lynn Villemaire and her partner Marie of NH, Joseph Villemaire and his wife Deborah of Reva Virginia, Barbara Villemaire Koutras and her husband Paul of Keene. Dick is also survived by eight grandchildren: Christopher Koutras and his wife Katie; Toria, Michael and Claire Koutras. Cameron and Tristan Villemaire; Nicole and Kimberly Villemaire. Dick is also survived by his brother-in-law, Gerald Bilodeau.
Dick graduated from Cathedral High School and joined the military at the age of 18. He was a waist-gunner on a B24 Liberator Bomber in the U.S. Army Air Corp durig WWII. After being Honorably discharged from the military he attended St. Michael’s College through the GI Bill and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business. He was employed as a manager in Procurement Records and Systems at IBM until retirement.
Dick’s love for the Catholic faith was evident through his long support of and participation with St. Francis Xavier Church and School in Winooski, VT. Over the course of his life, Dick was involved with the Parish Council, Home and School Associations, Knights of Columbus (third degree), and years of Eucharistic and Lector Ministries. In Keene, NH, Dick and Lorraine attended St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
Dick Villemaire was involved with a variety of organizations in his community through the many activities of his children. He was instrumental in organizing a Cub Scout program and also served on the Scouting Committee. He served several years as the Little League Baseball President and Treasurer of the BAHA hockey program. He received a community award for his involvement with various Winooski activities.
Dick loved sharing his sense of wonder in nature and being outdoors with his family and friends. He enjoyed family camping trips, hikes on Mount Mansfield, and tandem bike rides with Lorraine and their friends though Grand Isle, VT. Dick pursued downhill and cross country skiing, in addition to snowshoeing, well into his seventies. He was known for having a green thumb and took pride in maintaining pristine vegetable and flower gardens and well-manicured lawns.
Those who are familiar with Dick’s deep and sustaining faith, can be comforted in the sure knowledge that he has gone home in peace and joy to be with the Creator who gave him life. Friends, family and acquaintances alike, will miss Dick’s generous, kind, and amiable personality. His family, who meant everything to Dick, will find him constantly near, just as he has always been, close in their heart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Peters Street, Winooski, VT on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 11:30am. There will be no calling hours.
