

He was born on January 6, 1943, in Brattleboro, VT, son of the late Ralph and Elizabeth (Cobb) Barrows. He was raised in Dummerston, VT, where he attended area school and graduated from Brattleboro Union High School with the Class of 1961.
Following high school, Roland served his Country in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. He received several service medals and was proud to be a Vietnam War Veteran. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion for over 50 years.
On July 20, 1963, Roland married the love of his life, Alice Goodale.
Roland was a longtime employee at Kingsbury Machine Tool in Keene as a machinist and had formerly been a Swanzey police officer and security officer at Digital.
Previously, he owned antique and classic cars and often participated in parades and car shows. He was a member of the Atlantic Coast Old Timers and Keene Area Classic Car Club. Roland was always interested in learning about the Civil War and WW II. He enjoyed being a member of the Cheshire County Shooting Sports Education Foundation. He had a host of good friends he spent time with at Dunkins and Ferry Brook Range.
Roland is survived by his wife of 61 years: Alice Barrows of Swanzey, NH; sons: Jonathan T. Barrows and his wife Victoria of Keene, NH and Andrew B. Barrows and his wife Becky of Seneca, SC; sisters: Joan Lake of White River Junction, VT and Terri Barrows of Brattleboro, VT; brother: Thomas Barrows of Hanover, PA; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several extended family members and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother David Barrows.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 9th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH.
