Sandra E. “Sandy” Descoteaux 81, of Matthews Road, Swanzey, NH, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 31, 2017, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Marlborough, NH on December 24, 1935, the daughter of Edward and Ellen (Hennessey) L’Heureux. She grew up in Marlborough and was a 1953 graduate of Marlborough High School. She later attended Keene State College.

Sandy and her husband, Richard, have been residents of Swanzey since 1961.

Sandy worked in the administrative office of SAU 29 Keene School District for many years.

She was an avid gardener, tending to the beautiful flowers that she nurtured with a gentle touch. She also enjoyed watching and feeding the many birds that visited the feeders she strategically placed in her yard in order that she could enjoy watching them year-round. Her favorite pastime was the times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, in creating many wonderful memories with them.

She will be greatly missed by many including her husband of 59 years, Richard B. “Rick” Descoteaux of Swanzey; her children, Ann Descoteaux Cochran of Nashville, TN and Richard Scott Descoteaux and his wife, Julie, of Salem, NH; her grandchildren who affectionately called her “Dramie”, Lindsey Elizabeth Cochran, Rachel Ann Cochran, Robert “Taylor” Cochran, IV, Matthew James Descoteaux, Katherine Lee Descoteaux; several nieces and nephews; and her two “grand-dogs”, Lucy and Shannon.

In honoring Sandy’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.

For those who wish, donations may be made in Mrs. Descoteaux’s memory to the Catholic Charities of NH, Inc., 215 Myrtle Street, Manchester, NH 03104, or to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, West Swanzey, NH 03446, or to the Salvation Army, 15 Roxbury Plaza, Keene, NH 03431.
