She was born in Keene, NH on February 19, 1941, the daughter of Clifton “Cappy” and Marion (Puras) Davis.
Sandy was well known for her huge heart and kind spirit. She graduated 8th grade from St. Joseph Regional School in Keene and attended night school in her early 40's to receive her general education diploma, an accomplishment she was most proud of. She also took the big plunge, and obtained her drivers license in her early 40's as well.
A very hard worker, Sandy started working early on, at the former Princess Shoe Company in Keene and then with the Homestead Woolen Mills in Swanzey, NH. Her next phase of life found her staying at home, caring for her home and raising her family. Wanting to continue to help so many people within her community, she went back to work, working for around 20 years with the former Bradlees Department Store and then with T.J. Maxx for 11 years, both in Keene. She retired in 2007, to return to her life’s passion that of caring for her grandson, and being able to spend time with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whose lives found the sun rising and setting around them with her!
Sandy was very proud of her many years of participation in the Scarlet Marauders Drum Corps and The Garrison Drum Corps. She could be heard, loudly routing on her beloved Patriots and Red Sox, and was proud to sport her Patriots jacket to any occasion or event she possibly could.
She leaves her beloved family, her husband of 49 years, Carl G. Wheeler of Keene; two daughters, Michele Cavanaugh and her husband, Patrick, of Swanzey and Dawn Hill and her husband, Tim, of Swanzey; three grandchildren, Melissa Gorges of Keene, Thomas Phillips of Keene, Aidan Cavanaugh of Swanzey; two great-grandchildren, Rosalynne Aurora Bradley and Ariella Elizabeth Bradley of Keene; and several nieces and nephews.
At Sandy’s request, services and burial will be private.
