
Shirley M. Hammer, 80, of Keene, died Thursday morning, December 24th, 2013, at her residence with her loving caretakers, son, Garrison Wildfeuer, and granddaughter, Rosemarie Wildfeuer, in attendance to help, comfort and say farewell.
She was born in Oceanside, NY, on April 26, 1933, the daughter of Frank C. and Elsie M. (Cridland) Washer. She grew up in Oceanside and attended schools there.
In November 1969, she married Gordon Hammer in Mexico.
She lived most of her adult life in Baldwin, NY and moved to Keene 13 years ago with her husband, Gordon.
Mrs. Hammer was a founding member of the American Cut Glass Association and was an expert on American Brilliant Period Cut Glass. She was also a member of the Emblem Club.
Mrs. Hammer is survived by sons Bruce Wildfeuer, and wife Caroline, of Nashville, TN, Craig Wildfeuer, and wife Louise, of Holiday, FL, Garrison Wildfeuer of Pembroke, NH, Russell Vernon, and significant other Lynn Herman, of Laveen, AZ and Brett Vernon, and wife Amy, of Nashville, TN; her brother Kenneth Washer of Boynton Beach, FL and Keene; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Mrs. Hammer was preceded in death by her brother Frank Washer Jr., her sister Lillian Kier and her granddaughter Kimberly Spiekhout.
Services for Mrs. Hammer will be held on Sunday, January 5th, 2014, at 1:00 PM at Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH. Rev. Nancy Wood will officiate. Calling hours will be held an hour before from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. Shirley Hammer’s name to the charity of one’s choice.
