Stanley George Gove Sr., 79, of Estero, FL, passed away on March 1, 2018 at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH following a lengthy illness,

He was born on November 10, 1938 in Exeter, NH, and grew up on the Gove Pheasant Farm in Brentwood. He attended area schools and graduated from high school at Sanborn Seminary in Kingston, NH.

On November 14, 1959 Stan married Elaine Glidden of Farmington, NH.

Stan and Elaine lived in Brentwood where Stan built their first home. Later they moved to East Hampstead where Stan and Elaine owned Wajo Tool and Die. Stan and Elaine had also lived in Swanzey and Tamworth, NH where they had owned the Village Country Store. They retired to Estero, FL where they resided for 30 years before returning back to New Hampshire.

Stan was a man of few words, but he was a remarkable example of a real New Englander. He was a jack-of-all-trades and would fix things and tinker with anything he could get his hands on. He was an impressive woodworker and crafted many children’s toys and furniture pieces. Stan enjoyed the outdoors and liked snowmobiling, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. One of Stan’s favorite things was being “Papa” and “Umpie” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Stan will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 58 years: Elaine Gove of Keene; children: Stanley Gove Jr and his wife Lisa of East Hampstead, NH, Colleen Hopkinson and her husband Ron of Keene, and Julie Hensley and her husband Bob of Keene; grandchildren: Dan Gove of East Hampstead, NH, Bobby Hensley and his wife Maria of Keene, and Catie Steiner and her husband Jason of Keene; great-grandchildren: Stanley Chester Isidro Hensley and Jack Steiner; brothers: Harvey Gove and his wife Mary Jane of Freemont, NH and Doug Gove and his wife Maureen of Haverhill, MA; and sister-in-law: Kathy Wiggins and her husband Lanny of Middleton, NH.

He was predeceased by his granddaughter Kelsey Hopkinson.

As a teenager and classmate ('57) at Sanborn Seminary,
I remember Stanley well. He was a good guy with a friendly smile and always pleasant and enjoyable to be with. Please know that I share your loss.

I want to send my condolences. It is very painful and normal to grieve when a loved one falls asleep in death. Skicking close to true friends and expressing yourself can be of comfort. ( Proverbs 17:17)
