Steven F. Houle, 78, of Westmoreland, NH, passed away at his home on October 13, 2023 with his wife holding his hand, his dog Ruby and cat Toby both sitting on his bed, following a period of declining health.
Steve was born December 31,1944 to Donald and Lena (Arnold) Houle in Keene, NH. He graduated from Keene High School, Class of 1962, and graduated from Keene State College in 1969. He was a Technology Education teacher and Department Chairperson for 32 years at Monadnock Regional High School in Swanzey, NH, a Hunter Safety instructor for 20 years, and was a Federal Firearms Dealer for 34 years.
Steve was a life member of the NRA, Ruger Collectors Association, Ducks Unlimited, and a previous member of the Westmoreland Planning Board.
Steve met Maxine Scott, the love of his life, and married her in 1991 in their woodlot where they spent many years enjoying nature. He was a quiet and kind man who enjoyed staying close to home with one of his dogs by his side. He enjoyed snowshoeing, target shooting, camping, exploring back roads and riding the ATV making new trails. He managed his woodlot and beaver pond for the benefit of wildlife.
Steve leaves behind his wife: Maxine; daughter: Laree Townsend and her wife Cindy; brother: Daniel Houle of Hinsdale; two stepsons: Jesse Antosiewicz and Daniel Antosiewicz and their families; sister-in-law: Molly Scott O' Brien; several nieces and nephews; and friends that have become family: Lance and Becky Cleveland, Clay and Ellie Stalker, Bill Hatt and Clai, Tim and Cindy Hatt, and Cory and Kathy Tommila. Steve was exceptionally thankful for his caring and attentive Hospice team.
In keeping with Steve’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral. A burial will be held privately with family.
Steve asked that in lieu of flowers everyone take time to walk in the woods and enjoy a few moments with nature and wildlife.
