William Thaxter Powell, a US Marine veteran, lived a wildlife full of adventure, embracing every moment with a spirit of fun and mischief. He was a humble man who believed in living life to the fullest, with a quiet constitution. He had his foot to the floorboard, a window barely cracked for smoke, and the sweet smell of booze on his breath. Known as the shenanigan starter, he hustled through life, always finding a reason to smile even in the toughest of times. He loved hard and lived even harder, describing himself as "full of hell."
William was a proud father of four children - Lynnette, Gina, James Buck, and Tara. While his relationship with Lynnette and Gina took a different path, his love for them was always present in his heart. Through-out life and marriages he had the privilege to help raise many step children that he loved like his own. He lost his son James Buck at a young age, and it forever changed him. In his later years he grew a bond with his daughter Tara that was unmatched. He loved nothing more than watching his grandkids accomplish big things.
Hailing from a family with nine siblings and a rich history of hard work and grit, William's upbringing in Danforth, Maine, instilled in him a deep sense of resilience and determination. He shared a special bond with his siblings, Doris Moore, Hattie Coffin, Mildred Aldrich, Nadine Jarvis, Earl Everett Powell, Winston Powell, Brenda Powell, Robert Powell, and Beverly Daigle, facing challenges together and creating lasting memories filled with laughter and shenanigans.
In his younger years, William roamed the roads, living in various states and embracing the nomadic lifestyle. He found his calling in truck driving, eventually settling at Discount Oil of Keene before venturing into the world of flea markets. His love for the “hustle” led him to create the start to Hidden Treasures Flea Market alongside a friend, where he thrived and shared his passion for tinkering and the "hustle" with others. He passed the reins to his daughter, Tara, and proudly watched her grow his dream into a bustling community market.
William's generous spirit and love for giving defined him. He had a love for all animals and fed his dog better than himself. He was always willing to lend a hand and give selflessly to those in need without judgment. His larger-than-life personality, mixed with a cocktail of stubborn humor and love, made him unstoppable and unforgettable to all who knew him. “Wild Bill”
William Thaxter Powell will be remembered for his strength, resilience, generous heart, and his unwavering love for his family and friends. His legacy of living life to the fullest and spreading joy wherever he went will continue to inspire those who knew him, like a campfire under the Maine stars or a flea market flip that fills your pocket full of cash. A man of wonder with a magic cape in his closet (literally) right or wrong, he did it his way.
Details of a celebration of life will be announced soon.
