Frances was born on June 27, 1939, in Jackson County, TN, to Charles Freeman and Ofa Elizabeth Jackson Bailey. Frances came from a long line of Christian parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. She was baptized at the age of thirteen on September 30, 1953.
On March 21, 1970, Frances married Frank Albritton Morris, the love of her life, in Glendale, California. They enjoyed a life of love, happiness, and total devotion to one another for more than 56 years. They were blessed with two beautiful children: Barrett (Britt) Albritton Morris and wife Whitney, and Kelli Elizabeth Morris Fletcher and husband Scott, and seven beautiful grandchildren: Matthew Albritton Fletcher, Ethan Michael Fletcher, Wesley (Ford) Williford Morris, Caden Maxwell Fletcher, Darby Frances Morris, Charles (Charlie) Freeman Morris, and Barrett (Baer) Eugene Morris.
Frances graduated from high school as Valedictorian of her class in 1957 and graduated with honors with a B.A. degree from David Lipscomb University in 1961. She held an M.A. degree in English from California State University and did postgraduate education at the University of California. Frances worked for thirty years in public education as a secondary teacher and high school counselor.
Frances had many interests and was extraordinarily talented in each one. She was an outstanding seamstress, and no item was too challenging to sew. She enjoyed practicing hospitality and hosted many events throughout the years, including baby and wedding showers, small groups, guests, and parties. She was a student of genealogy and did extensive research into both sides of her family. Frances loved to study the Bible and was involved in Bible studies throughout her life. To that end, she was a Bible class teacher for children and ladies and an occasional speaker for ladies’ groups. Frances loved pictures and maintained a collection of albums detailing family events. She was tech-savvy and loved to produce videos for these events. One of her greatest interests was travel, and she and Frank traveled to six continents and throughout most of the fifty states together. She spoke often of the blessings the Lord granted them to see so many wonders and the beauty of the world.
Her primary interest in life was to be faithful to Jesus, and to be the best wife, mother, grandmother, and Christian friend that she could be. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were the joy and delight of her life. Her wish was for her children and grandchildren to always remain faithful to the Lord and for all the family to be united in heaven forever.
Frances was preceded in death by both of her parents; a brother, Charles Edmond Bailey; a brother-in-law, Jon Wesley Morris; and sisters-in-law, Abbie Morris Barthel and Mary Jane Morris. She is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren; a sister, Joan (Tom) Bailey Philpot; nephews, Adam (Susan) Ruffin and Christopher (Candace) Ruffin; and cousins Ada Sue (Dan) Jackson Scott and Rhea Jackson.
We invite everyone who knew and loved Frances to come together with us during this time of remembrance and reflection.
