Passed Away October 22, 2025 | Keller, Texas
Galen “Joe” Halk, age 83, of Kissimmee, Florida, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his children on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in Keller, Texas.
Joe lived a full and joyful life marked by dedication to his family and hard work.
He is survived by his children, Kim (Joe) Smithwick, Ronnie Halk, Kathy (Eric) Brandsen, Lilly (Will) Ramirez, and Joe (Stacy) Halk; his 13 beloved grandchildren; and a “handful” of great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his siblings, Bill Halk, Donna Avery, and Joyce Seymour. He was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Effie, and daughter Jeanine.
He spent many years working in both the pocketbook industry and with Mercury Marine, where his dedication and work ethic earned the respect of those around him. Outside of work, he had a lifelong love of tennis — both playing and watching — and he especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren and on family vacations.
Above all, Joe’s greatest accomplishment was being the best father and grandfather his family could ask for. His warmth, humor, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund, the National Kidney Foundation, or the charity of your choice in Joe’s memory.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
