
With deep love and sorrow, the family of George Alderson Shawver Jr. announces his passing on August 22, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas, after a courageous four-year battle with dementia. He was 74 years old.
Born on August 8, 1951, George lived a life of service, dedication, and love. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he served his country during the Vietnam War, carrying with him the strength, resilience that defined his generation.
Following his military service, George built a long and successful career as a car salesman, where he was known for his honesty, wit, and ability to connect with people. His hard work afforded him the opportunity to retire early, giving him more time to enjoy the things he loved most—fishing, gardening, time with friends, and being with his family.
George is survived by his son, George Shawver III, and daughter-in-law Amber Shawver, along with his four beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Alderson Shawver Sr. and Betty Jo Shawver.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 10:15 AM at Dallas–Fort Worth National Cemetery. Services will be brief, lasting about 20 minutes—just as George would have wanted.
George will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and love for family. His legacy will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
