

James will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, papa, friend, and colleague to all who knew and loved him.
He was born on September 19, 1939, in Sacramento, California, to Roy Takemoto and Yasuko Asazawa Takemoto. James attended Lincoln High School in Lincoln, California. He graduated from San Jose State University and earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from The University of Texas. He taught chemistry and conducted research at Texas A&M University for three years. He later earned his J.D. from Kent School of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois.
James was an environmental and patent attorney for ExxonMobil for over 30 years and later went into private practice in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, until his retirement.
James married George Maedell Foster at the Wilmette Church of Christ on August 29, 1970. They had one daughter, Kathleen Antigone.
James loved golf, fishing, cooking for his church, and donating his time and earthly resources to those in need.
James is survived by his wife, George Maedell Foster Takemoto of Keller, Texas; his brother, Kenneth Takemoto of Sacramento, California; his nephews, Dwight and Joshua Takemoto; and his sister, Mary Takemoto of Alameda, California. He is also survived by his daughter, Kathleen Takemoto Bajaj, and two beloved grandchildren, Luke and Catherine Bajaj.
A come-and-go reception will be held from 4–7 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, at his home: 500 Bristol Hill, Keller, Texas 76248.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Keller United Methodist Church in Keller, Texas. A celebration of life and reception will follow in the church sanctuary, along with the scattering of ashes in the church garden.
