Quick to laugh. Quick to love. Quick to welcome. That was our Katy. Wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, friend, apple of our eye.

Katy Lynn Gist Pennington, 62, of Keller, Texas, passed away on July 8, 2020. Though her favorite pastime was lavishing care upon those she loved, every once in a while we’d convince her to snatch a moment or two for herself. On those rare occasions, you might find her walking along the beach, watching HGTV and planning her next house remodel, reading a frivolous romance, traveling to a secluded locale, or getting a pedicure complete with bright coral toenail polish.

She is survived by Glen Thomas Pennington, her beloved husband of 38 years, her adored daughters, Emily Cuba and Brianna Cary along with their spouses, her precious grandchildren, Eli, Gus, Michael Jr., and Claire, four much-loved siblings, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was predeceased by her dear parents, Albert and Nancy Gist.

A memorial service will be held in Katy’s honor at Keller’s Old Town Funeral Home on Sunday, July 19 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Autism Speaks in honor of Katy Gist Pennington by visiting http://act.autismspeaks.org/goto/katypennington

I was fortunate enough to spend some time getting to know Katy during Emily's wedding in Hawaii. She had the most gentle soul and had so much love for her family. When I first met Emily I wondered who raised such an optimistic, kind woman I'm thankful to call my friend and then I met Katy and it made sense. What an amazing lady that will be greatly missed! Will be keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers <3

You were the most amazing sister in law and closest thing to a sister that I could ever have wished for. You always made me smile and reminded me to laugh everytime I saw you. I will never forget our walks and long talks by the fire while drinking our wine. You always gave me the wisest advice and never were judgemental. I will never forget your truly kind heart sweet Katy. I am going to miss you and love you forever. Thank you for so many great memories.
May you rest in eternal peace~

Katy was a beautiful soul. She loved her family fiercely. She was totally committed to their happiness and well being. Passionate, loving, smart, forgiving, always knew what to say and when to say it. Kind, extremely generous. We could go for months without talking. But we knew we were both there for each other whenever we needed someone to talk to, another opinion on something or just a lift in spirit. I thought of her as another sister. Katy was fun loving and had the best ideas for a spur of the moment good time. That was Katy, ready and willing to take on anything life handed her. Katy was a reader, there weren’t many subjects she didn’t know about or have a funny story to go with. Great laugh too.
My sweet, sweet friend. I will miss you forever. Til we meet again in heaven... ❤️

I had the pleasure of knowing Katy, from Sorrel Trail where we first met. She was always welcoming and kind. She helped me pack when I moved. I am going to miss our chats we had while I worked and she would stop in promoting her company. Katy will be ever missed she was a kind sole. RIP Katy prayers to your family
