I met Kayla & family in West Texas at White River Lake. We became instant friends!! I would visit often, Rick, Kayla & Jace would be there. One evening they we're fixing dinner for us all and one of English Bulldogs (Skeeter) I think wanted in the conversation. So he climbs up next to the bar and sits down in one of the barstool like a human being and continues to listen to our conversation. It was the funniest thing I ever saw. What a great family this is Kayla my dear dear friend I miss you so much! May you rest In the arms of Jesus in peace. Rick and the kids, your mom Judy and your dad I love you all very much always in my prayers and thoughts. Forever friends forever in my ❤️💓💔!!

Kayla is my second cousin, Darr side. Our family has always been close, especially so when our grandmother was alive. I moved to Lubbock after marrying, young and broke! I had a little boy 2 years younger than Kayla. Some afternoons Kayla would come over for a visit. That was the highlight of my week! She wanted me to make her Barbie doll clothes! Of course I did! Boy, that was hard! She's the only one I made them for!! Lol. As life goes on we grow up, move, get on with life. I haven't seen her since my dad's funeral, but I knew she had found love and happiness! My heart goes out to you Rick and to your kids! I will keep y'all in my prayers! Pam Darr Mongrain

I meet Kayla and Rick in the 80’s and we did so many things together. Always the perfect host, I spent many holidays with Rick and Kayla. When I got married to My first wife Martha she hosted the bachelor and bachelorite parties. When My wife passed away her and Rick made sure I was ok and took care of me and made sure life got back to normal. I spent many good times with Rick and Kayla at the lake home at White River lake. She had the best laugh and giggle I will miss. I loved her like a sister. God bless you Kayla and God rest you’re soul. Till we meet again. Your friend always Brian.

I remember the first time I ever laid eyes on Kayla. My family and I were in Lubbock visiting relatives, uncle Dicky and Aunt Judy, uncle Jimmy and Aunt Beverly. Then we decided to do a quick late evening visit to my cousin Rick and his wife Kayla and their new baby, of whom we’d never met. We rang the doorbell, they both answered with cousin Rick seemingly towering above Kayla’s smiling face. Wow, I thought, what a beautiful couple and adorable baby. The visit was short but memberable. ❤️🥰 Later , in the car my youngest child said, WOW, I didn’t know we had such beautiful cousins. Lol. My children had never met my relatives on the Hunter side of the family, I told Liz, why yes we do have some pretty good looking people on my daddy’s side of the family too. 🥰 I still cherish that moment and that visit. Prayers be with this beautiful family 🙏. God bless🙏 Love you❤️

Kayla was born into family situation that most can’t conceive. She was a fighter and gave back limitlessly to the family she loved. She and Rick contributed so much to so many.

I feel a great loss for her immediate and close family. I know she loved them all! She will be missed by us all.
Love you Kayla.

All that is written about her in her tribute I found to be absolutely true. Both Kayla and Rick always made life more enjoyable for those that entered their world. My life has always been better off for having been able to call her, Rick, and their family friends. She will always be missed.
