Lorene “Tootsie’ Garrison Frazier went home to be with her Lord and Savior January 12, 2021. She was born December 29, 1930 in Vernon, Texas to her parents Nona Mae Kilpatrick Garrison and Henry Anison Garrison. She was the middle child of seven children. She grew up during the Great Depression but her dad had farm land where he planted all kinds of vegetables and they had hogs and chickens. They didn’t realize they were poor because everybody else was in the same situation. Her dad died when she was nine and life became difficult for her mother and siblings. Her education consisted of only 7 years of formal training. She had to get a job as did her older siblings to support the family.
Then in the late 1940s, she was working in a cafe in Wichita Falls when she met the man she would marry, Riley Woodroe Frazier. Riley said he would not marry someone who did not have a strong relationship with Jesus Christ. They married on March 6, 1949 and their only child, Linda Mae Frazier Mumtaz was born September 13, 1950. They loved her dearly and she loved them dearly. They were very active in their Southern Baptist church in Wichita Falls.
In the early 1960s, they moved to Grapevine and a few years later moved to Hurst. When they lived in Grapevine they were very active in the Baptist church in Grapevine, then they moved to Hurst and became very active in that Baptist church. In the summer of 1984, her husband, Riley, had surgery for cancer and he required constant care. She quit teaching to help take care of him and started in the real estate business so she could continue to have flexible hours and be near him. In June 1985, Riley passed away. Lorene continued with her real estate business. Lorene worked as a real estate agent for almost 30 years.
