On May 5, 1939, in Augusta, Georgia, Myrtle Mae Sainten was born to Joe and Beulah Jones. Over the course of her life, and travels, she resided in both New York and California, choosing to settle in Roanoke, Texas. Her presence in Roanoke was ultimately featured in the Roanoke News, reflecting her community volunteer work at the local shelter and food bank. Myrtle’s love and zest for life were demonstrated in her love of entertaining and gathering with her family and friends and traveling to new and different places.
Myrtle’s celebration is preceded by her youngest child, Samuel D. Sainten. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Eric A. Sainten; her daughters Denise V. Edwards and Erica A. Shepherd; her 5 grandchildren, Nicole, Ronald, Glen, Nenika, and Aja; her 15 great grandchildren, Christopher, Shamel, Brianna, Kayla, Cory Jr., Devon, Gi’Anah, Ni’Kyah, Namiya, Kenneth Jr., Makhi, Hasani, Tyrus, Aaliyah, and Elayah; her great great-grandchild, Titus David Andronicas Conway.
A celebration of life for Myrtle will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Keller's Old Town Funeral Home, 220 Keller Pkwy, Keller, TX.
