She was born on July 15, 1950 in Gainesville, Florida to the late James and Eveyln Hilliard. She is survived by her son Russell Urquhart, grandchildren Elizabeth, Abigail, and Lillian, and her stepsister Wanda Borden.
Growing up in Gainesville, Sherry was an avid fan of the Florida Gators. From a young age she enjoyed watching football games at home with her dad and continued that tradition with her son. Faith was an important part of her life. Her bible was always at her bedside. She attended church in her childhood and as an adult she was a longtime member of Engleside Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia where she watched children in the church day care, helped take care of church elderly and volunteered in the bus ministry and as an AWANA teacher. After more than 15 years of service at the Pentagon and State Department, she spent her downtime dotting on her dogs and even took up volunteering at an animal shelter with her granddaughter, Elizabeth. She was friendly, loved to laugh and would strike up a conversation with anyone around her. Those that befriended Sherry would say they are lucky as she was a dear friend and was there for them whenever they needed it.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sherry’s honor to the Humane Society of North Texas where Sherry volunteered with Elizabeth.
A celebration of life for Sherry will be held Friday, November 11, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Keller's Old Town Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 220 Keller Parkway, Keller, TX 76248.
