Shirley was the beloved youngest daughter of twelve children born to John and Mary Elizabeth (Elderidge) Baker.
Her path began in Colorado Springs, but she spent most of her childhood in Oregon after her family relocated there. It was in Oregon where she grew up and developed a deep appreciation for nature and a gentle spirit.
Shirley moved to Texas in the 1970s, ultimately making the Dallas-Fort Worth area, her home for the last 50 years of her life. She was known for her quick wit, warm heart, and generous hospitality expressed through the meals and baked goods she lovingly prepared. She was in the process of compiling her cherished recipes into a cookbook, a project that reflected her creativity and her deep love for baking.
In addition to being a wonderful cook, Shirley was an expert quilter. She kept her very first quilt, but every single one she made after that was given to someone she loved. She also shared her love of nature through her talent as a photographer, often including her beautiful pictures of mountains, wildlife and flowers in cards to friends and family.
Shirley maintained a strong connection to her roots. Many summers, she made the trip back to Oregon to spend time with her beloved sisters and their families. These visits were a cherished tradition and a source of great joy for her.
She also embraced a life filled with meaningful pastimes. She loved reading and sharing books with others, playing dominoes with her core group of friends, and doing puzzles with them.
Just days before her passing, Shirley celebrated with much joy, her 78th birthday on June 13, 2025, with those who loved her. A final milestone in a life filled with resilience and love.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her eight siblings David Baker, Henry Baker, Jack Baker, Bill Baker, Marie Isaac, Margaret Taylor, Irene Baker, and Lorene Rochin; and her beloved granddaughter, Kate Wilson.
She is survived by her son, Ron Wilson, and his wife, Terra, with whom she shared a close and loving bond. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Collin Wilson and his wife, Talor; Kane Wilson and his fiancée, Kristen; and her youngest grandson, Kage Wilson.
Shirley is also remembered by her son, Andy Anderson, and his family, as well as her extended blended family: Tami Johnson and her family, and JonRon Wilson and his wife, Connie.
She is survived by her three sisters, Mae Ewert, Jeri Baker, and Dorothy Morris and their families, who brought her continued happiness, comfort, and friendship throughout her life.
Beyond her family, Shirley was blessed with loving neighbors and many dear friends who enriched her life with their presence and care.
