Susie C. Fisher of Grapevine, Texas, passed away on September 27, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew and loved her.
She was born on November 1, 1942, in Linden, Texas, to Loyd and Clara Collins. Susie graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and later married Bill W. Payne, with whom she welcomed her daughter, Phyllis Annette Payne.
Susie went on to attend both cosmetology school and business school, enjoying successful careers as a hairdresser and as an office manager for Stop & Go Markets and Gemmy Industries.
In April of 1981, Susie married Ronnie Fisher, and together they spent the next 36 years living in Grapevine. She was a proud breast cancer survivor who dedicated herself to encouraging others battling the same illness by sending cards or making phone calls to lift their spirits.
Susie’s hobbies included collecting Depression glassware and traveling with her husband, Ronnie. Some of her favorite things were Christmas, visiting with family and friends, driving nice cars, having her hair done every Friday, Mexican food, music, and dancing. She also had a special fondness for sweets—especially Blue Bell ice cream—and her favorite animal was the elephant.
Susie is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Hanke of Grapevine, Texas; granddaughter, Shiloh Hanke Smith (husband Eric Smith) of Roanoke, Texas; great-grandchild, Ethan Jo Mitchell Baldwin of Euless, Texas; nieces, Trisha Collins Choate and Karla Collins Butler of Lufkin, Texas, and Kristie Banks Martinez of Tyler, Texas; nephew, Kendall Banks of Mineola, Texas; uncle, James Collins of Las Vegas, Nevada; and many beloved cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Fisher; parents, Clara and Loyd Collins; sister, Lorraine Banks; brother, Kenneth Collins; and grandson, Chas Hanke.
