Valeta Ann Venable, of Keller, Texas passed away peacefully on July 31, surrounded by her family, and loved ones. Valeta or Tiny as she was known by her friends, was born in Oklahoma, and always considered herself an “Okie” regardless of where she lived.
To provide for herself and her daughters, Valeta studied and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse when she was in her early twenties. For over 50 years, she took pride in her profession sharing her expertise with those nurses and sometimes doctors, new to the profession. As a LVN, Valeta worked in several different departments including the Intensive Care Unit, Geriatrics, and Day Surgery. Valeta retired from Baylor Medical Center Grapevine in 2007.
Valeta was an accomplished gardener and was known for her ability to mix colors in a flower bed. She also enjoyed completing crossword puzzles (always in pencil), painting yard art, watching OU football, and gambling at the casinos. Valeta took great joy in her pets and her family. She gave unconditional love to both.
Valeta was predeceased by her parents, Jo Crown (George) and Doyle Venable, her sister, Pat Foster, and her granddaughter Courtney Hendrix. Valeta is survived by her husband, Carl Schlichenmaier, sister, Debbie Tate (Chester), brother, Steve Venable, daughters, Elizabeth (Michael) Norman, Jacqueline (Bob) Parks, bonus daughters, Betty (Glen) Tucker, Lorri (Ricardo) Cevallos, a bonus son, Richard (Kelly) Riegler III, eleven grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
We request all of Valeta’s loved ones to join us in celebrating her beautiful life at Keller’s Old Town Funeral Home, Keller, Texas on August 27 at 1:00 PM. Jeans or OU attire is encouraged. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Don't Forget To Feed Me: Pet Food Bank.
