oh my Mama Gennie, I finally had the courage to write this.. seems like yesterday I would walk out to your garden and see you sitting down looking out.. I would reach over and kiss your cheek and you smiled.. Now I wonder if you knew just how much I loved you and and just how much you meant to me.. Oh how i admire and loved loved the mother you are, the home you built, and the amazing children you raised.. Angela and Daron are pretty special and I know that's the incredible love and family you and Daddy Travis created.. You were such an influence to me that I too want to create the family, unity, and unconditional love you have taught us all. You have the kindest heart, the most gentle yet so strong love... oh how you supported each and every one of us in our own way.. . How I loved those Friday night dinners with the family making margaritas and you always sneaked in a little sip...I am so so blessed to have been your daughter in law because from the very beginning when we met, you have always welcomed me with so much love and just like your own daughter.. Thank you so so much for all the amazing love you gave and showed me.. I will never forget the overwhelming support you gave me when Jackson was born.. You have built such a strong foundation for our family and all this wonderful our family is, it's because of you.. and you will see it because I only hope to be as great of a mother as you are.. for our baby Jackson, your grandson.. to grow up and be the incredible person that Daron is because that's the love you have taught us all to be.. I love you so much and thank you Mama Gennie for your love and most importantly for the incredible lessons you have taught me and I know you're now in heaven with our Lord... with so much love, your daughter, Vannessa.

Being part of the Okie family, I didn't get to see Aunt Gennie as much as the Texas family but I always loved seeing her at our annual family reunions. I couldn't have ask for a sweeter, kinder aunt. I'm sure my mom is celebrating with her baby sister in Heaven. Love and prayers. Jan

Aunt Gennie has been described in so many of these memories for her kindness, her sweetness, her love for her family and many other of her wonderful traits. She loved to play games, laugh, listen to her family tell stories and especially make music. She was also brave! Angela was more than my cousin, she was one of my first friends. We had sleepovers and play dates before play dates were a thing! One favorite memory was her taking Angela, Daron, and me to the State Fair. We were all very young, but she loaded us up, caught the bus, and went to downtown Dallas to the Fair. I have never visited the fair since without memories of that first visit with her.

She will be loved and missed by so many who had the opportunity to know her kindness and to be loved by her!

I did not have the privilege of knowing her personally, I know her heart by knowing Daron. I see love in her eyes and deeply caring spirit and she has passed that same spirit on to Daron and the family. I just wanted to express my deep regrets to the family. You are in my prayers.

Travis married Gennie when I was 13 years old, making her my first sister-in-law but we were more like sisters. She loved making fudge and I love to make chocolate pies, and whenever we could, we liked to bake together. We also loved to have fun and play Canasta. I am going to miss Gennie a whole bunch. But I know that God had plans for her; no more suffering & no more pain. She is walking on the streets of gold and sitting on the right side of God. Someday we will be together again, making fudge, pies and playing Canasta.
Travis, Angela & Daron, you are in my constant prayers.
