It never occurred to me that Andy wouldn’t be back to work after he left this last time for more medical treatment. Enduring all that he had before, left us thinking he could do it again and he’d be back in the new year arriving early every day and leaving well past the end of his shift. We got used to Andy never taking a break preferring to solve one more mystery before maybe going to the lunch room to refresh his travel coffee cup. The only thing to get him to go home on time was the end of the week and the prospect of heading out camping.
He has been missed during his time away from “the tech room”, especially his unique way of dealing with his computer customers and his ever present “I’m just joking” that he would use when his his opinions of Windows or Mac would slip out. He was a marvel at getting a computer to do what it was supposed to and evoking gushes of thanks from frustrated owners. He always sent them home happy. He wouldn’t stop until he had.
Andy didn’t just help his computer customers he helped me with my Mac training when I was attempting to pass a difficult test. He became more than just a co-worker, he was a mentor, a friend, and a person I dearly miss.
Colette, Daniel, Lee and all those who knew and loved him, my deepest condolences. I am so sorry for your loss. I feel it too.

Dear Colette, Daniel and Lee,
Oh, I was so saddened to read Andy's obituary on Castanet. As soon as I read it, a few fond memories came immediately to mind.
Daniel and Lee, I remember your parents coming to an interview at the school. I had finished teaching Daniel and Lee was enrolled in my class. Your Dad's line was, "The only thing the two boys have in common is their address." I still chuckle at that line.
The last time I saw your Dad was in London Drugs. He sold me a giant microphone - a Yeti - that I plug into my laptop every day to record student presentations. I remember being indecisive about the product and Andy kept telling me that little kids will get a kick out of the size of the thing. He told me that Daniel and Lee would have loved it. I bought it, love it and continue to use it everyday in my career. Next week, when I plug it in, I will be thinking of Andy again.
I also remember the support your parents showed in my classroom. I remember your Dad being present at many special events. He was a kind man with a great sense of humour.
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. My heart aches for all of you.
