Art was born on February 22nd, 1937, in Montreal, QC, to Sidney and Muriel (Mosdell) Pidduck. At 17 years old, he met Margaret Rose Berger, the love of his life. After falling madly in love, they married on April 5th, 1958, and expanded their family with four young sons. The family lived in the Montreal area until 1970, when Art moved his wife and children to North Delta, BC.
Art was extremely hard working but always made time for his family. He was a proud father who dedicated himself to his sons’ early morning hockey practices, baseball games, and camping vacations. In addition, Art was exceptionally good with numbers, which allowed him to find work as an accountant but his greater talent was in carpentry. Art owned his own construction business, building and renovating homes in the North Delta area. After the 1980s recession, Art then ventured into the automotive parts industry as a sales representative. At the age of 55, Art and Margaret retired to a cabin at Missezula Lake. His grandchildren have many fond memories of fishing and camp fires from the years they lived at the lake.
Art was a quiet and patient man, content to sit back and listen. He guided by example and gentle reminders. Art’s family learned many valuable lessons from him during his 83 years and often recalls his words of wisdom:
“It would take half as long if you just hit the nail on the head”
“If you’re gonna do it, do it right or don’t do it at all”
“Eat it! It’ll make your hair go curly!”
And of course, everyone knows not to run around the neighborhood with a campfire in your wheelbarrow
Art is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret, sons Gary (Ingrid), Kevin (Heidi), David (Julie) and Darren (Denise), grandchildren Kelsey, Colin, Carly, Tamara, Trina, Gregory. Angela & Ryan and great-grandchildren Ryland, Kieran, Maliah, Oaklyn, Noah & Aspen.
“To live in hearts we leave behind, is not to die.”
Rest in peace, Dad….we will miss you.
