“Carl William Herbert; husband, father, grandfather. Born November 8, 1927, Vancouver, BC. Passed peacefully in his own home on July 2, 2020, Kelowna, BC. Hot Rod Carl was a street racer by night and by day his career started with ‘Herbert & Son’ House painting. Aug 6, 1954, Carl married the love of his life, Valerie. Dad opened Simpson Sears in Burnaby, BC transferring with Simpson Sears to Nanaimo, BC in 1968. Transferring a second time in 1971 to open the new Simpson Sears Store here in Kelowna, BC. Carl retired in 1984. Carl & Val lived a wonderful life on Okanagan Lake for 36 years enjoying summers on the McKinley cabin dock and wintering for 24 years in Barbados. Carl had a love for music, great dancer, fisherman, handyman! Hero, friend! Carl will be remembered with a cigarette in one hand and a beer in the other, a smile and a larger than life story. Beautiful soul leaves a trail of beautiful memories; Carl is previously deceased by Valerie with sadness and broken hearts left to carry on the Herbert legacy: son, Dean (Mari), daughter, Leanne Farkas (Marvin), 4 grandchildren: Danica, Kyle, Lindsey and Evan; niece Cheryl Sorenson.
