Darryl was born in Ft St John, British Columbia in 1963. The family moved numerous times during his childhood following his father’s work. Those moves included Hudson Hope, Mica Creek, Canoe, Castlegar and finally to Revelstoke. Darryl had many jobs throughout his lifetime which led him to Fort McMurray, Cranbrook and eventually to Lake Country. In his 20’s and 30’s he was a wildland firefighter working all over the province. Darryl enjoyed his time as a firefighter and talked very proudly about his time fighting fires.
Darryl was a gentle and very kindhearted soul. He cherished his family and friends above all things. Although Darryl faced many struggles in life, he was most at peace when he was fishing and enjoying the great outdoors.
Darryl left this world peacefully on his terms after a very short battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his mother Fran, Father Ron, Stepmother Karen and Nephew Frankie . He will be lovingly remembered by Sisters Cindy (Rick) and Rhonda (Oly); Brother Sam (Charlene); Stepbrother Eldon (Shelly), Stepsisters Stacey (Pete) and Kim (Mike); and his Nieces and Nephews - Laura, Danny, Ronnie, and Charlie.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the fall. We wish to send our heartfelt thanks to all the doctors and nurses who cared for Darryl in Kelowna General Hospital and the staff at the Kelowna Hospice House. A special thank you to Joanne Murphy and Linda Biard for always being there for him and his family.
In lieu of flowers the family asks you to make a donation to the Kelowna Hospice Society in Darryl’s name.
