Ed was born in Wexford, Ireland, the second eldest of a family of 9, to Mary (Boyce) and John McGrath of Upper John Street.
Wexford is also where Ed met and married the love of his life, Maureen Coffey.
He, Maureen and six children immigrated to Canada in 1967. The family lived in Labrador City, Newfoundland,
where Ed worked for the Iron Ore Company of Canada for 10 years.
Two more children were added to the family, and Ed had them all on skis early,
the latter two before they could walk.
In 1977, Ed and family moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta, where Ed worked for Syncrude Canada Limited.
Following his retirement from Syncrude in 1987, Ed and Maureen moved to Kelowna, BC. Keeping up with the nomadic lifestyle,
they moved back to Alberta, this time living in Calgary where Ed worked for Krupp Canada,
traveling to assignments that took him across Canada and around the world.
Ed and Maureen returned to the Okanagan in December, 2008.
Ed became a member of The Harvest golf club where he followed his passion for the game.
Ed is predeceased by his daughter Katherine.
He is survived by his wife Maureen and by his children,
Ann (Locke-Pope), Linda, Michael, John, Paul, Niall and Tracy McGrath.
He is in the thoughts and prayers of his loving brothers and sisters
and their families, in Wexford, Ireland. Ed loved his family, golf, opera, traveling,
a tall glass of Guinness and a good lamb stew, but his greatest passion was his wife Maureen.
They had 61 loving years together and she will miss him greatly.
Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014
