Betty was born in Brilliant BC in November 1929 to the Obedkoff Family of Castlegar. She met and married Roland Long in Vancouver where they lived and worked together in the Woolen Mills. After moving to Haney, Betty and Rolly raised a family of 3 children which over the years gave them 6 grandchildren and even great-grandchildren.
Betty was always showing love to her family by welcoming them over for homemade dinners, sending them home with soups or desserts and gifting them with her fabulous cross points and needlework.
Betty’s friends will remember her for her enjoyment of activities such as bowling, puzzles and cards. A whiz at cribbage, Betty won at tournaments and always shared her winnings with her lifelong partner, Rolly! They were a great team!
Betty was interested in the things of God and committed her life to Jesus Christ in her late 80’s! What a consolation that was for her as she felt the pain of aging and approached the last days of her life. She was assured of her love by God and her place in Heaven.
Rejoice! for the Scriptures says, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Rev. 21:4
