It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Grant S. Gair, who was born in Killam, Alberta, the youngest of eight children. He was raised near Strome, Alberta, then while still a young man moved with his parents to Calgary where he continued his education. After graduating Grant began working, married, and started a family. He later joined the Royal Bank of Canada, where he built a long and respected career, remaining with the bank until his retirement 35 years later. His retirement years were spent with his wife in Kelowna, British Columbia.
Grant is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Jo; his children Rodney, Maureen (Mike), and Robyn (Rob); and his cherished grandchild, Emma. Also, his sister, Margaret, brother-in-law Carl (Shirley), as well as many much-loved nieces and nephews.
Throughout his life, Grant set an example—always—as a father, as a husband, and as a man. Known for his kindness, patience, and quiet strength, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. Those who wish to honor Grant’s memory are invited to make a donation to the Central Okanagan Hospice House, where he spent his final days in the compassionate care of its staff.
Carry-on my soul, carry-on. (Robert W. Service)
