Harold Elmer Dirks

It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Dirks who peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus with close family by his side on March 26, 2024, just weeks short of his 99th birthday. He was predeceased by his precious wife Kay. He leaves behind his Son Tim Dirks (Marion), Daughter Cheryl Dirks (Stephen); Grandchildren Amanda Cole, Matt Dirks (Tamara), Kelsey Snow (Chris), Cody Johnson; and Great Grand Children Taylor, Jayden, Payton and Quinn. He also leaves behind his remaining siblings, brother Don Dirks and sister Lorna Bohn, as well as all remaining extended family and friends who loved him.

Harold was a beloved patriarch, a man of deep faith and a prayer warrior who had a tremendous love for his family. He lived his life in service to others, and even though he suffered for many years, he always remained an encouragement and blessing to his care workers and his dear family, right until the end. None of us will ever forget how he would greet those special to him with his famous ‘happy dance’! It brings his family great comfort to know he is free from pain and doing his ‘happy dance’ with his Special K, and family gone before him. He fought the good fight and finished the race. Well done good and faithful servant! He would say “Happyluya”!

His family would like to express our deep gratitude to the management and care workers at the Village at Smith Creek in West Kelowna, where he resided for the last 10 years. The loving care he received was such a blessing to his life, and to ours.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Mission Creek Alliance Church, 2091 Springfield Rd, Kelowna, BC, on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 1:00 pm.
