Henny was born in the Netherlands on September 26, 1929. She came to Canada in 1950 with her first husband, who passed away in 1968. They lived in various places in BC; Ladner, Smithers, Prince George and Surrey. When Henny remarried she moved to Kelowna, where she lived for 32 years on an orchard and another 13 years in a condo.
Henny loved children, playing games and making crafts. She participated in several choirs, was a faithful child sponsor with World Vision, a visitor of the infirm and was involved in her church until her health declined. Henny’s faith strengthened her throughout her life. She was thankful in all things, had a positive attitude and enjoyed her life in beautiful British Colombia. Henny was always very grateful to the Canadian soldiers for liberating the Netherlands in 1945.
We would like to thank Susan from Home Instead for her visits to Henny in Kelowna, and all the staff at Piccadilly Care Center in Salmon Arm for their awesome care over the last 4½ years.
Henny was predeceased by her first husband Hans Haverman, and her second husband Martin Kloostra as well as her 3 sisters and a brother. She is lovingly remembered by her children Diane (Neil) Bylsma and Arlene (Dave) Morrow, and her grandchildren Craig (Esther), Lisa (Shane), Karen, Tracy, and Kristin (Kurt). She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren: Jimmy, Jerry, Noemi, Mira, Edward, and Eva.
A graveside service and celebration of life will be held to honour Mrs. Kloostra . Due to the current pandemic restrictions, it will be by invitation only.
