In loving memory of Ian, who passed away peacefully with his partner, Charlotte, and his niece, Crystal, by his side. Ian fought prostate and bone cancer for 7.5 years with humour and optimism. He and Charlotte enjoyed camping, going out to dinners and dances, attending flea markets, having coffee with friends and trips to Mexico and the Las Vegas Nascar races. Ian's hobbies included watching Nascar races, Blue Jays baseball games, hockey games and collecting scale model cars. He was the President of the Kelowna Singles Dance Club for several years and enjoyed socializing and tending their bar at dances. His favourite holiday celebrations were spending Thanksgiving with his family, Halloween parties with friends and celebrating Christmas with Charlotte's family.
Ian is survived by his mother Marie Collison and his sister Annemarie both in Nanaimo, his brother John Collison (Jody) in Victoria, niece Crystal Ellis (Rob) and their daughter Julia in West Kelowna. Ian was predeceased by his father, John Collison, in 1995, and many close friends in recent years.
At Ian's request, there will be no memorial service. "Please remember me in better times."
Cremation will take place and his ashes buried in the family plot in Ontario at a later date.
The family would like to thank Ian's team of doctors, staff at KGH, Kelowna Cancer Centre, and Kelowna Hospice for the care they have given him over the years during his battle with prostate and bone cancer.
Donations may be made to the Hospice House, 2035 Ethel Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 2Z6 or the Canadian Cancer Society.
