CROUCH: Joan Elizabeth (nee Saul). Peacefully, with family at her side, on Saturday, May 27 at Kelowna General Hospital, our ray of sunshine departed this world to be with her saviour. Daughter of the late Jacob George and Mary Finlay Saul (nee Cross). Predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Alex William Crouch (2014) and her sister Lorraine Robertson. Loving mother to Joady Davis (Larry), Monte Crouch (Lorie) and Ian Crouch (Wendy). Beloved Grama to Ryan Visscher (Kristin) and Jordan Visscher (Natasha), Spencer Crouch (Kailey), Meghan Crouch (Chris), Breanna Kolkman (Jason) and Hilary Wardle (David). Special Grama-Joan to Owen, Jayden, Lucas, Emilia, Sophie, Lydia, Cecilia and Arjan. Born September 27, 1926 in Victoria Joan went to work in the bank after high school. She married Alex upon his completion of his studies in Toronto and they moved to Campbell River where Alex set up his physiotherapy practice. Resourceful and competent, Joan embraced her role as young wife, mother, bookkeeper, cook and gardener. In 1964 the family moved to Kelowna and owned and operated a fruit farm. Always optimistic and up for a challenge, Joan dove into life on the orchard until Alex resumed his physiotherapy practice. In her spare time she developed her talents in sewing, badminton, golf, bridge and in later years, pottery. Her painted plates and platters are treasured mementos of her artistic flare! A lady in every sense of the word, Joan exuded elegance, style and grace. She will be remembered for her warmth, subtle sense of humour, genuine curiosity and eagerness to learn. Just recently, with sheer delight, she connected family in the west with those in the east by face-time on her new iPad! The family is eternally grateful to the residents and staff at Sandalwood for their friendship and exceptional support over the past few years with a special thanks to Debbie Campbell for her loving care and faithful companionship. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Central Okanagan Hospice Association are much appreciated.
