During his early life in Hungary, he served in the Hungarian military, where he rose to the rank of commander and married Jolán. In 1956, Joseph fled Hungary and the Communist government seeking to imprison him. Now a refugee, he chose Canada as his new home. After arriving in Canada, Joseph worked as a hospital janitor in Montréal before moving to Toronto, where he worked in an iron foundry and then in a factory making leather goods. While living in Toronto, Joseph married Elizabeth. Together they moved to Vancouver where Joseph worked for the Hudson Bay company. In 2001 Elizabeth passed away, and in 2002 Joseph married Edith, and settled in Kelowna. He enjoyed gardening, singing and reading the Bible.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Edith, and his children and grandchildren. He is predeceased and survived by several close relatives in both Hungary and Canada. He is lovingly remembered and missed by his family and friends.
