With heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Lauren on September 23, 2021. Born in Kelowna, BC, on August 8, 1989, her talents became apparent at an early age. Lauren was artistically gifted and was fond of drawing and painting, creating many beautiful works by which she will be remembered. As an adolescent, Lauren was a Sea Cadet where she met many new friends and played trumpet in both cadet and high school band. After high school, Lauren discovered her life’s calling: food. Lauren became a Red Seal Chef and worked in several high profile kitchens with many highly talented people. It was the highlight of our holidays to gather with family around Lauren’s beautiful cooking. Lauren had recently returned from a family retreat in the Kootenay area in which many cherished memories were made. She was also eagerly anticipating becoming an aunt; a role which we know she would have poured herself into.
Lauren was sweet and sensitive, yet always eager to put herself front and center to the action. Those who knew her will never forget her keen wit, creative intelligence, and the depth of her love. She will be dearly missed by her parents, Rob and Leah; her twin sister, Allison; her brother, Russell (Paige); her grandmother, Shirley Ann; the love of her life, Derek; and her many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved her unconditionally. The love was mutual.
An informal memorial gathering will be held at 3:00pm at Bertram Creek Park on Saturday, October 9. In consideration of current covid restrictions, we ask that guests bring a mask and practice social distancing.
Thank you to everyone who ever helped Lauren and to those who have offered their support during this very difficult time.
