Leslie Christopher SYMES
August 8, 1950 – June 26, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Leslie (Les) Christopher Symes of Kelowna BC. Les passed away from cancer, surrounded by his loving family on Friday June 26th, 2020 at the age of 69. He leaves behind an empty place in the hearts of all who were blessed to have known and loved him. Les was predeceased by his Father Leslie Symes. In Canada, Les is survived by his wife Glendora, his three children: Jennifer, Stephen (Cristen), and Johanna (Mike), and his five grandchildren Kayla, Meagan, Aiden, Maddox, and Simon. Les was incredibly close to his extended family and will be greatly missed by sisters- and brothers-in-law Alison and John, Cory and Liz, and his nieces and nephews Jackie (Chris), Michael, Amanda, Taylor, Brandon, and Kaylee. In England, Les is survived by his mother Maureen, his brothers David (Eleanor), Jonathan (Sue), and Peter (Maria), his sister Ann (Robby), his nephew David, and his nieces, Lisa, Emma, Emilia, Lorena, and Lucy. Les was born in London England where he met the love of his life, Glendora. After their wedding, Les immigrated to Canada. Les’ passions in life were family and friends, and his actions were guided by loyalty and love. Les greatly admired Canada’s natural beauty and enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hiking, and camping with his family and canine companions. Les was actively involved in his Catholic Parish Community and volunteered with Cursillo, Inn From the Cold, Freedoms Door, and the Refugee Community. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Maria Verdurmen, the nurses and doctors on 4B and the Kidney Dialysis Unit at Kelowna General Hospital, and the nurses with Interior Health’s Palliative Care Program and Hospice House, for their compassionate care. A private family funeral will take place at St. Charles Garnier on Saturday July 4th, 2020 at 1:00pm. Due to the COVID restrictions on guest attendance, a livestream will be provided.
