Margaret Jean Masson

With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Margaret Jean MASSON (Hodgson), of Westbank, B.C. on October 12, 2016 in Kelowna, British Columbia.

She will be forever remembered and loved by her nieces and nephews, Maureen Winter(Greg), Kathy Stone(Steve), Wayne Osbaldeston(Kathy), Dwight Osbaldeston (Laurie), Sandy Downey (Mike), Janet Bonde, Richard Skelly (Kathy Norell), Jayme Blenkarn (Michelle Siderson), Craig Skelly (Angela), her granddaughter Rosemary Hodorek (Peter) and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Jean will be joining her beloved husband Peter, infant son Adrian Peter, parents Clarence and Elizabeth Hodgson, brother Alfred Hodgson, sisters Joyce Pratt, Hazel (Lloyd) Osbaldeston, Rhona Traviss (Bill) and Rhoda Krawiec.

Jean was born January 16, 1935 in Islay, Alberta. She was raised on the families’ Hudson Bay Company farm until the family moved to Vermillion, Alberta in 1942. Jean attended school in Vermillion, and joined the Royal Canadian Airforce in 1955, as a radar operator in Clinton, Ontario.

She married Peter Masson in Barriefield, Ontario on August 4, 1956, and were posted to Quebec City, PQ. They had various postings in Ontario and Quebec, and moved to Florida when Pete retired, and then to the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia.

In 1979, Jean was baptized and confirmed as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and her Church was a big part of her life until her passing.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Heritage Retirement Village, the Ladies’ Relief Society of the West Kelowna Ward of the Vernon, British Columbia Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the staff at Kelowna General Hospital and friends in the Kelowna area for their kind and compassionate care.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on May 27, 2017 in Kelowna, BC.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Edmonton, Alberta. Details will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
