Mary was predeceased by her husband, Rudy Runzer, her sons Gordon Runzer and Douglas Runzer, her great grandson Tristin Croteau and by all her siblings.
Mary loved Jesus and she was a member of the Catholic Women’s League of Canada and served in many functions. She showed her love through her hospitable nature and through the excellent food she helped prepare for banquets and at home for her family.
Mary was involved in the lives of all of her family. She supported them by attending their sports games, graduations and marriages. She was there for all the special occasions. The family and her friends were blessed by her love, wisdom, compassion and generosity.
Some of us learned to play crib with Mary. She enjoyed the game and played her last game two weeks before she passed. Her memory about crib did not fade.
We will all miss this quietly confident women who spoke her mind. The woman who taught us how to make cabbage rolls and perogies. The woman who cared for us in illness, who cheered us when sad, who was our advocate and mentor.
We thank the staff at Sun Pointe in Rutland for providing comfort and peace in Mary’s final years. She was loved by many and will be missed by many.
A private family ceremony will be held on May 8, 2026, at St. Theresa’s Cemetery where her ashes will be interned with her husband Rudy and her son Douglas.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.valleyviewfuneralhome.com for the Runzer family.
