On Friday, October 13, 2023 we mourned the passing of Mary Slade (nee Luc), sister, wife, mother, and friend to so many. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Joyce Stach; her husband, William Slade; and grandson Ezra Slade.
Mary was born near Grassland, Alberta on October 16, 1929 and moved to Edmonton about the age of eighteen. There she met Bill (William) Slade. They built their home together, raised their family, and in 1992 they retired and moved to beautiful Kelowna, where they had often spent their vacations.
Mary is survived by her sons Bryan (Deborah) and James (Jeannine); grandchildren Rachel (Yann), Simon, Eli, Samantha and Luke; and her sister, Judy Banman (Jake).
She was savvy while always being kind and looking on the bright side in spite of some hard times. You could count on Mary to be there with her delicious home-cooked meals whenever needed and to celebrate the good times with her family. She was also generous with her time and energy in her community and with her friends. Mary worked hard all her life and helped provide for her family with her various jobs and her excellent skills as a seamstress. Her grandchildren loved her dearly, as she was an involved and caring Grandma/Baba. She was loved and valued by all her family and friends and will always be in our hearts.
We would especially like to thank the caregivers at Kelowna General Hospital and Cottonwoods Care Centre where she was fortunate enough to spend her last days. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to KGH Foundation at https://www.kghfoundation.com
