Dear Joan and Family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. We were unable to attend Nelson's celebration of life. We do want to share our fond memories of our old curlew neighbours.The many walks and visits of both Nelson, Joan and of course the puppies. Our kids being allowed to come for the occasional swim and of course Nelson's stunning Irises. He was so out going and active. Nelson will be missed. Take care Joan.

Marleen and I were deeply saddened to hear of Nelson's passing. As neighbours in 448 Curlew Drive for eight years we very sincerely appreciated you both as wonderful friends, neighbours, and fellow dog owners. Our Westies and your Daschunds may have guarded their own territory but we non-canines knew no such bounds. Nelson's love of nature, of birds and flowers, his wonderful photography and his generous bags of garden produce are all memories that we will always treasure. And who can ever forget Nelson's duct-taped moccasins!!
You may have gone but as long as we have memories, you will not be forgotten. We always looked forward to your return from Arizona, Joan, but now we are the ones far from home unable to extend our personal love and touch. Know that we are with you in your loss.

Dear Joan, Alan and Family,

We are truly sad that we could not be there in person to honor such a fine man that we called "Dad".  Both Joan and Nelson welcomed Woolf with open arms when he arrived in Canada from South Africa.  Woolf sends his condolences from London England where he currently is on family business, and I from New Westminster who unfortunately could not get decent flight arrangements.  Our thoughts are with you all today as you say goodbye to a fine man. We will miss you Dad!

I just heard of Nelson's passing and am very saddened by this news. I fondly remember you and Nelson walking the "brother and sister" Dachshunds when we were on Curlew and stopping to chat on many occasions. Nelson motivated me into "slow pitch" and we had many enjoyable hours commuting to and playing games for several years. He was well liked by all ball players and will definitely be missed this spring.

Dear Scott family; Bob and I live two doors down (in the red house). We arrived home from a winter vacation this past week and learned (only a couple of days ago) that we have lost a good friend and neighbour. We have enjoyed Joan and Nelson over the years. We have exchanged produce (our appricots for their tomatoes etc.) and stories since we moved here in 2002. Nelson and Lynda worked together for the Kidney Foundation. We will truly miss him!

Dear Joan and the Scott Family,

It is indeed a great loss for us, and everyone in the neighbourhood, to have lost such a great friend, Nelson.
Nelson was the best neighbour we have ever had. Since we moved next door to Nelson and Joan from Calgary four years ago, we have developed a close friendship with them. Nelson was such a caring person that he would go all his way out to help. He invited Mom, Teresa, for walks with him and Joan knowing that she was alone in the house while we were at work. He was our "go-to" person. Whenever we were not sure about anything, one of us would say “Go ask Nelson!". Our love for this neighbourhood is simply because we live next door to Nelson and Joan. We will miss his gentleness, his dry sense of humour, his beautiful roses, his home-grown tomatoes and beans, his walks and cute banters with Joan, and above all his smile with a twinkle in the eye that just brightened up everything, even on the gloomiest day. 
Nelson, wherever we are, you will always be in our hearts.
