July 27th, 1955 – January 3rd, 2020
Known by many as Rob, Robbie or RJ. Rob has been accepted back to the loving source from which he was created. Rob lived the last year of his life with a cruel and heartless disease “ Cancer “. Through all his pain, discomfort and surgery, chemo, Drs appts, lab work, he always had hope. Hope that a miracle would happen, to rid him of the distress he was going through. Yet the time he had left was also a miracle of the life he had left. Moments to cherish, laughter, tears, gratitude and leave a legacy.
Left behind are his family; loving wife Sandi Appley ; daughter Chelsea (Travis) Fullerton and their children Logann and London; daughter Samantha (Paul Bennis) Appleby and their children Raelyn and Robbie; Sister Karen (Bert) Gee; Stepsons Morgan (Kim) Buckingham and their children Claire, Lily and Dane; Bradly Buckingham and his children Kaysha and Emma. He also leaves behind many extended family members, sister and brother-in-law’s, nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends. Rob was predeceased by his loving parents Robert and Mary Appleby, maternal and paternal grandparents.
Rob had an extreme loyalty to the electrical wholesale industry. He worked in sales and loved what he did. He went above and beyond with knowledge that exceeded ten other people. Always believing the customers was informed and cared for. He finished his career with Don Fisher at Freelance Electric, but worked at Wesco and Jes Can to name a few. Loyalty and friendship though the industry were important to him. In the past few years, playing pool was his number one pastime. With his wife Sandi, they created an amazing home and garden. His handyman skills were present all over their property and the neighbors as well. His knowledge and skills could figure out almost any task with precision.
Aviation, skiing, baseball, hockey rounded out his past passions and hobbies. He was an unwavering Toronto Maple Leafs fan and became a passionate Saskatchewan Rough Riders fan when meeting Sandi. Rob was born in Toronto and lived his childhood in Toronto, Brampton, Guilford and later in Oakville, before moving to the Okanagan in 1989. He always spoke kindly of Ontario, but Kelowna became his home.
