Today our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of our husband, father and grandfather, Gordon. We don’t say goodbye, but we will see you later. We will all remember him for his stubbornness and never quit attitude, but mostly for his deep love for his family and friends.
Gordon was born in St Boniface Manitoba and moved to Burnaby BC with his parents and older sister, where he developed the love of helicopters which developed into a lifelong career of flying, maintaining and late in his career of inspecting helicopters. His many hobbies included boating, fishing, hunting and camping with his wife Linda and their dogs.
Gordon developed an incurable disease called pulmonary fibrosis which most likely developed several years ago, working in the sandblasting and painting industry, and over the last six years robbed him of his ability to breathe. Even though it became more and more difficult to breathe he rarely complained and he would not allow the disease to take away his dignity. His stubbornness allowed him to battle to the very end.
We all would like to thank his doctor, interior health nurses, palliative care nurses and Kelowna Hospice House for their compassion and care he received in his final years.
At the request of Gordon, there will be no formal service held. Donations to the Canadian Heart and Lund association would be appreciated.
