It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Robert “Bob” Won on April 29, 2023. Bob passed away at home. He was only 57 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death.
Bob is survived and missed by his loving wife of 27 years, Colleen and their two cats Jasper and Jonesy. He will be cherished and missed by his Father Jay Won Sr. and three siblings Jay Won Jr (Debbie), Susan Won, and Tammy Himsl (Bruce), as well as his three nephews Sean Batty (Falon), Daryl Batty, Colton Won and niece Sara Won (Trent). He will also be greatly missed by Colleen’s family, mom Carol and sister Corinne Stone. Bob was predeceased by his Mother Marge Won.
Bob was born in Lethbridge, AB and lived with Colleen in many places in B.C and Alberta. They finally settled in Lake Country, BC in 2012. Bob’s love of cooking started at an early age, standing on a wooden Coke box in his Grandma’s restaurant kitchen. He attended SAIT in Calgary, AB with a few friends from back home, enrolled in the Culinary Arts program, and he graduated as a Red Seal Chef. Over his career he was employed in many types of restaurants, from greasy spoons to fine dining. He always had a fun time in the kitchen and made lifelong friends along the way.
Whatever Bob did in life, he worked hard until he was the best at it. He was most recently employed at Sparkling Hill Resort and Spa where he put the “sparkling” in Sparkling Hill. During his 12 years there, he enjoyed making friends with the staff and guests from all over the world. As a young man he spent his time roller skating, racing around on sport bikes, camping, waterskiing, meeting up with his friends and cruising the strip. He continued on to cruise North Vancouver with Colleen in either his black Spidey truck or on his red & blue 929 Fireblade sportbike. In the Okanagan they met up with friends and cruised in his beloved blue Mustang GT convertible. Bob loved football. He was a very passionate fan of the Buffalo Bills and a lifelong member of the Bills Mafia.
We will truly miss his big smile and his wicked sense of humor. He was able to brighten everyone’s day with his charming personality and quick wit.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Sparkling Hill Resort & Spa on June 17th. 1-3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, Critteraid Animal Sanctuary or Wildlife Rescue Association of BC in Bob’s name.
