

Shirley Louise Jorstad (née Tremain) passed away peacefully in her sleep in hospice care in Kelowna, British Columbia July 2, 2022. Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan July 21, 1940 she was an active happy child involved in sports and her community. She attended King George and later Peacock Technical schools. After high school she attended secretary school and worked for a local Moose Jaw lawyer and later CHAB Radio. She kept books for several local companies, and dedicated thirty plus years as a sales clerk, first with People's Jewellers in Moose Jaw and later at People's Jewellers in Kelowna, as well as Mappins Jewellery and Sears, both in Kelowna.
Shirley married Gordon Jorstad in October of 1962 and together they raised two boys Lloyd and Scott while living in Moose Jaw and the family farm near Briercrest. She was active in the Moose Jaw Kinettes club, was an involved volunteer in her community enjoying curling, golf and other past times. In 1991 Shirley and Gord moved to Kelowna, British Columbia where they resided until her passing.
She is predeceased by her parents Howard and Bernice Tremain, and survived by her husband Gord Jorstad of nearly 60 years; sons Lloyd Jorstad, Scott Jorstad (Dallas) and dearly loved grandson Jordan Jorstad (Amanda); her sister Marilyn Francis; many nieces and nephews as well as numerous life long friends. Shirley was beloved and will be greatly missed.
As per her wishes, in lieu of a funeral service a memorial celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in Shirley's name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
